John Martini (4/28/2024): "This is not the original statue displayed in this location on Palm Avenue, but rather a replacement for an earlier statue titled Danseuse. Note that the base of this statue is slightly larger than the pedestal below it. This same statue appears to have been mounted atop the lower gate house entrance to the Heights, and shows up in this photo taken just after the 1906 earthquake. It's possible that the original Danseuse was damaged in the quake and the statue from the gate house was moved into its place."  (rev)
